Alpha House Discipleship Community

We welcome men who have been broken by life’s problems and are seeking to rebuild their lives. Our community home in Golden Valley, Minnesota houses up to five men who are transitioning back into wholeness as followers of Jesus Christ. Our housing offers three phases in transition.

Be Known

Purpose:
Relapse prevention with a Biblical view of addiction. Develop solid walk with Christ, Begin process of renewing the mind. What does it mean to be a disciple. Determine individuals priorities, willingness to submit to each other, and authorities. Assess gifting and skills. Find what areas the disciple are hoping to grow in. Determine activities needed for that growth. Become familiar with all functions and rules of Alpha House. (Up to 90 Days)

Emphasis On:
Knowledge of the word, obedience to the word, service work, volunteering, daily devotions, prayer (Monitored by staff). Implementing Christs’ teachings into all areas of life (intellectual learning, then put into practice). Mentoring (finding a mentor and being mentored). Developing new and healthy habits. Learning how to be honest, open, and transparent with others. Developing relationships with all Alpha House residents and staff. Being 100 % accountable.

Required Activities:
Obtain approved mentor in first 2 weeks, meet once per week. Meet one on one with Steve, and Kent in first 2 weeks. Obtain employment in first 2 weeks of entering Alpha House (1st shift only). Participation in AlphaCitiCorps ministries and outreaches (Salvation Army, Homeless feeding the Homeless, etc.) Attendance at all Alpha House meetings. Attendance at a local church once per week. Completion of all house chores (daily,weekly).

Responsibilities, Restrictions, Privileges:
No overnight/weekend passes. Paying rent by the 1st of each month. 10:00 curfew Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 curfew Friday and Saturday. No female relationships (unless married).

Completion Requirements:
Demonstrate progress from previous addictive behaviors. Developed consistent devotional habits. Completion of any special assignments given by counselors or staff.

Know Him

Purpose:
Measure growth in personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Understand and know your gifts and motivations. Deepen intimacy with Christ. Demonstrate a teachable spirit. Promote healing of family relationships. Begin moving into leadership roles. (Up to 120 Days)

Emphasis On:
Discipleship. Devotional skills. Leadership, Demonstrating Christ-like character. Personal bible study. Trusting relationships with others. Continued relationship with mentor. Special needs. Individuals’ gifting. Identifying vocational track. Volunteering and service to others. Financial management.

Required Activities:
Continue to meet with mentor once per week. Continued employment. Participation in all AlphaCitiCorps ministries and assigned outreach opportunities. Attendance at a local church. Completion of all house chores(daily, weekly).

Responsibilities, Restrictions, Privileges:
Paying rent by the 1st of each month. Curfew 11:00 Sunday through Thursday, 12:00 Friday and Saturday. Weekend passes.

Completion Requirements:
Demonstrate love for God, self, others. Demonstrate ability to lead. Complete a personal goals plan. Completion of any and all individual assignments by counselor and/or staff. Willingness to continue developing a fruitful Christian identity.

Make Him Known

Purpose:
Develop maturing character, Assess level of maturity, Reconciling with family/friends. Sharing Christ’s love. Becoming mission focused. (Up to 6 Months)

Emphasis On:
Serving in ministry, moving in spiritual gifting. Clarifying vocational goals. Awareness of calling. Financial management. Volunteering and serving others. Leadership. Healthy integration of work/recreation. Developing transition and exit plan.

Required Activities:
Continue to meet with mentor once per week. Continued employment. Participation in all AlphaCitiCorps ministries and assigned outreach opportunities. Attendance at a local church. Completion of all houses chores (daily, weekly). Leading  in outreach opportunities.

Responsibilities, Restrictions, Privileges:
Paying rent by the 1st of each month. Curfew 11:00 Sunday through Thursday, 1:00 Friday and Saturday. Limited internet use. Weekend passes.

Completion Requirements:
Demonstrate solid Christian identity. Mentoring others. Develop key friendships at Salvation Army ARC.  Leader in some form of ministry outreach. Ready to execute transition and exit plan.
